Accomplishments and Progress
On February 24th. 2025 The first formation meeting took place. We determined who would be the Initial
Incorporators, and we unanimously adopted our Bylaws and a collection of policies and procedures
that will guide the operation of the hui. After the agreement to proceed, the application
for incorporation was submitted to the state with the name Makers Market Hui.
On March 12, 2025 The Hui received our incorporation document from
the State of Hawaii Business Registration Division.
On March 13, 2025 The Hui received our EIN number from the IRS.
On April 4, 2025 The IRS application for nonprofit determination was submitted.
On June 4, 2025 The Hui received the IRS determination letter.
On June 10, 2025 The Makers Market Hui's website goes online
On June 27, contacted Hawaiian Beaches Community Association about renting Stables for Market location
On June 30, Submitted the Application for Recognition of Exemption from the Registration under Hawaii's Charitable Solicitation Law
July 23, Finalized rental agreement for the Stables Makers Market Location
July 30, posted first online notice and started receiving market applications on 7/31
Sept 20, Received a mini-grant from Vibrant Hawaii, for #VibeHI Day. Supporting our start up market
Sept. 21, The Makers Market acquired liability Insurance, for 3rd. Sundays for a year.
October 19. We DID It!! Hosted our first Makers Market at the Stables in Pahoa
January 15, 2026, received approval from the USDA to become a SNAP/EBT retail location
